From an early age, children were eager to engage and interact with the people around them. Even at this age, they were capable of directing their attention and interest beyond their own family toward any adults and children who seemed friendly, exciting, or loving. Although parents and family members mediated their child's early interactions and relationships, young children actively reached out for relationships and wanted to manage their pace, content, and degree of closeness. In today's world of childcare and working parents, these babies had new opportunities to become part of social groups beyond their immediate families.
Ms. Adina Curca explored this topic in depth at our recent Community Information Session.
